The National Extended Diploma in Performing Arts is equivalent in size to three A Levels. 13 units of which 7 are mandatory and 4 are external. Mandatory content; 67%, External assessment; 42%.

The Extended Diploma is a two-year, full-time course for learners who want
to progress to higher education courses in performing arts areas and
industry employment. The Nova Arts pathway focusses on dance, with
musical theatre.

This course is a fundamentally learner-centred approach to the curriculum,
with a flexible, unit-based structure and knowledge applied in project-based
assessments. It focuses on the holistic development of the practical,
interpersonal and thinking skills required to be able to succeed in the
performing arts.

The course will provide students with intensive full-time training in Commercial, Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre responding to the demands and expectations of the ever-evolving dance industry.

Dramatic Dance

The course is designed to encourage students to develop a strong
understanding of their own body and to encourage students to take
responsibility for their own learning as well as physical development.
By the end of the course, students should feel secure in their
knowledge, understanding and skills, enabling growth, independence
and excellence.

Whilst there is a clear emphasis on practice-based projects, theory
underpins all aspects of the practical work and students are
encouraged to adopt a deep, reflective and holistic approach to
learning.
